Gold and Silver from the Connacht Indoor Championships

North Roscommon Athletic Club had 12 competitors at this year's Connacht Indoor Championships at the Indoor Arena in Athlone on Saturday last.


Saoirse Wynne competed in the Under 13, 60 metres Hurdles, an event she excels in and duly won the gold medal. 

Ruth Cox competed in her specialist events of 60 metres sprint and long jump at Under 15 level and successfully won silver medals in both events. 

Congratulations to Saoirse and Ruth on their successes.
Both athletes now go forward to the National Indoor Championships on the 21st/22nd March at the Athlone Indoor Arena. 

Well done to all the athletes who took part.

Approximate times (use only as a rough guide):
Long Jump U15Girls and Boys: 10am
followed by Under 12, 13's 14's (in that order)

Shot Putt: Under 15 Girls and Boys: 11am
followed by 14, 13 and 12's in that order

Hurdles: Under Girls/Boys: 13, 14's 15's (from 12 Noon)

600m/800metres/ Girls/Boys 12's/13's/14's/15's (12 noon but after girls/boys 1000m walks)

60m sprints: Girls/Boys U12, U13, U14, U15 : 1.30pm

Please note: Standards will be used for the Long Jump, all 1st jumps measured, after that only measure if close or exceed the mark of the 6th longest jump.
The outer track is to all be done on time (600m and 800m).

The inner track will all be timed with manual backup, the fastest 8 times will be chosen for the final. (Hurdles and 60m) All times will be published. 


As running events are timed, it is essential that you put 100% in to your run/sprint. Empty the tank. You may win your heat but not qualify if your heat is a slow one.

I will collect the race numbers (Tom). Please bring safety pins. I am bound to forget. 
I will also have race singlets with me. Remember €4 per event

Connacht Indoors 12-19

Connaught Indoors is scheduled for a two day event;

 

Sat 1st and Sun 2nd March in Athlone

The Connaught events this year are in Sligo with the nationals in Tullamore as follows:
